Digital IC Design

In this course, students learn how to build and analyze digital logic gates and larger macros. The course is centered around a simplified theoretical framework that allows the students to estimate achievable performance for individual gates and larger macros. This knowledge is then directly applied in the labs where the theoretical estimations are compared with simulated results. An important outcome of the course is the insight in how different gates and wires impact delay, area, and power performance. This is all important to understand for a digital designer working with synthesis and place-and-route, something students will be faced with in later courses.
