International Day of Women and Girls in Science: Empowering the Next Generation through ToGetHER in Tech

Every year on February 11, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science reminds us that gender equality in STEM is not just a question of fairness — it is a necessity for innovation, competitiveness, and Europe’s technological future.

At CHIPS of Europe, we believe that inspiring girls to explore science and technology must start early, be hands-on, and most importantly: be empowering.

That is why we are proud to present ToGetHER in Tech — a Europe-wide initiative designed to motivate girls aged 10 to 16 to discover their potential in technical careers.

What is ToGetHER in Tech?

On 23 March 2026, multiple partners across Europe will host parallel events under the shared mission:

“MINT: Wo Mädchen alles sein können!”
(STEM: Where girls can become anything!) TogehtHER in Tech EVENT Villach…

The goal is clear:
To make technology tangible, relatable, and inspiring.

The event format combines:

  • 🏭 Company visits
  • 🛠 Hands-on workshops
  • 🎤 Career talks
  • 👩‍🔬 Q&A sessions with female role models

As highlighted in the event flyer, the mission is to help girls “Mach dich mit Technik vertraut” — become familiar and confident with technology TogehtHER in Tech EVENT Villach….

A Unique European Collaboration

What makes ToGetHER in Tech special is its simultaneous, cross-European format.

On the same day, events will take place at:

At 11:45 CET, all locations will connect virtually for a shared highlight:

The Global Girls-Power Call

During this joint session, each partner will introduce themselves in a one-minute presentation, with IFAT acting as host. This symbolic moment underlines a powerful message:

Girls across Europe are not alone in their interest in technology — they are part of a growing international community.

The flyer program shows this shared moment embedded within a full day of activities, including a career talk, interactive sessions like “Entfalte dein Tech-Talent”, and direct exchange with role models TogehtHER in Tech EVENT Villach….

Why This Matters

Despite progress, women remain underrepresented in many technical fields — especially in microelectronics and semiconductor-related careers, which are central to Europe’s digital and green transition.

Encouragement at a young age makes a measurable difference.

Studies show that interest in STEM subjects often forms between the ages of 10 and 16 — precisely the target group addressed by ToGetHER in Tech TogehtHER in Tech EVENT Villach….

By combining:

  • Visibility of female professionals
  • Interactive experimentation
  • Real-life industry insights
  • European collaboration

we aim to strengthen:

  • Self-confidence
  • Curiosity
  • Career awareness
  • A sense of belonging in tech

More Than an Event — A Signal

On this International Day of Women and Girls in Science, ToGetHER in Tech stands as more than just a one-day program.

It is a statement.

A statement that:

  • Girls belong in laboratories, cleanrooms, workshops and boardrooms.
  • The semiconductor industry needs diverse perspectives.
  • Europe’s innovation capacity depends on inclusive talent pipelines.

By creating experiences instead of stereotypes, we open doors to futures that many girls may not yet imagine for themselves.

Looking Ahead

With partners across Europe working together, ToGetHER in Tech demonstrates what collaboration within the CHIPS of Europe ecosystem can achieve: impact at scale, with local roots and a shared European vision.

On February 11, we celebrate women and girls in science.
On March 23, 2026, we actively invest in them.

Because the future of technology is stronger when we build it together.
